Looking for a new haircut that really suits you? Whether you go for short and sleek, casually long or something eye-catching with a modern twist: the right men's haircut makes a world of difference. In this blog you will discover which hair style best suits your face shape and personal style. From cool undercuts and stylish fades to trendy long looks and even permanent curls for men. Even if you are going grey or 60+, there is a hairstyle that will enhance your look. We list the most popular men's hairstyles of 2025, including styling tips and grooming advice. Wondering which hairstyle will make your face shine? Read on and discover your perfect look.

Which men's hair style suits me?

A well-chosen haircut enhances your appearance and your face shape is the basis for that. Each face type requires a different approach when it comes to length, volume and texture. Whether you opt for a cool shaved haircut, a nonchalant long look or a well-groomed fade, your face determines which style looks best.

There are six head shapes: round, oval, square, triangle, heart-shaped and diamond-shaped. Below, we explain which men's hairstyles are most suitable for each shape.

Round face

Do you have a round face? Then go for hairstyles that optically lengthen the face. Consider styles with volume on top and short sides, such as a quiff, pompadour or a textured taper fade. A quiff that stands up or hair styled back often works better than styles that follow the face. Avoid full lengths at the sides, which will make your face look even rounder.

Oval face

Do you have an oval face shape? Then you're in luck: almost any hairstyle will look good on you. From buzz cuts to long hair or even a mullet, anything works! Fades also work great because they emphasise the symmetry of your face. You can vary length, texture and direction with ease, as long as the whole look remains balanced.

Square face

A square face shape is characterised by a firm jawline and powerful look. You can accentuate this strength with sleek, angular hairstyles like a blockhead or a short fade. Also, a structured side part or a styled quiff emphasise your strong features without looking too robust.

Heart-shaped face

A heart-shaped face is all about balance. Because the forehead is wider than the chin, hairstyles that bring volume around the temples and cheeks are ideal. Think a fringe crop where the hair falls slightly forward, or a medium-length style with texture. Avoid too much volume on top; a softer, wider shape at the bottom works better.

Triangular face

A triangular face calls for hairstyles that create volume at the top so that the narrower forehead appears optically wider. A textured quiff or a modern mullet with some length and movement at the top is a good choice. Sideways styling with some extra height also visually balances the face more.

Diamond-shaped face

For a diamond-shaped face - with wide cheekbones and a narrow forehead - hairstyles with width at the top or around the crown are most flattering. Wavy or curly hair works well, especially if you opt for a slight side parting or curtain fringe. Medium-length hairstyles with natural waves also soften sharp contours and bring the proportions together nicely.

Short and half-short men's hairstyles for a fresh look

Short and semi-short hairstyles continue to be favourites in 2025 among men who love a groomed look with minimal effort. These styles are practical, versatile and suit almost every hair type and lifestyle. Whether you opt for sleek and classic or something more rugged with texture, a well-cut short haircut instantly gives a fresh, energetic look.

The buzz cut & crew cut

For men who like simplicity, the buzz cut and crew cut are still excellent choices. These styles are sleek, symmetrical and particularly low-maintenance. The buzz cut is extremely short and ideal for those with little time, while the crew cut keeps slightly more length on top, leaving room for subtle styling. Both hairstyles accentuate the jawline and look fresh and cool.

The short crop with texture

The crop, with its short sides and slightly textured top, is especially popular among younger men in 2025. The hair is worn forward and finished with a straight or slightly frayed fringe. This style gives a modern, urban look and is perfect with a fade. The crop is ideally suited to thicker hair and creates a smooth look without the need for excessive styling.

Styling tips for short hairstyles

Use a matt paste or clay to add texture without shine. This way you maintain a natural look that enhances the shape of the hairstyle. For extra firmness or volume on top, a volumising powder or light blow-drying technique can help. Have your barber regularly touch up the contours, which is essential with this type of haircut. A barber often doesn't charge a whole cut for this which keeps this haircut inexpensive.

Tough men's hairstyles that stand out

Sometimes you want more than neat or practical. You want a haircut that shows character, something that stands out, without being too showy. Tough men's hairstyles give you that extra bit of charisma and confidence. In 2025, we will see sharp transitions, casual texture and retro influences with a modern twist.

The undercut: rugged and outspoken

The undercut remains a powerful choice for men who dare. With this hairstyle, the sides and back are often closely shaved, while the top keeps quite a bit of length. This sharp transition between short and long gives a great contrast to your look. Whether worn back or loose, the undercut always exudes confidence. This style goes perfectly with a casual outfit with streetwear influences, but can also work surprisingly well with smart casual.

The quiff: stylish with volume

The quiff, or simply crest in Dutch, is all about volume at the front of the hair, which is styled up and slightly backwards. This style is often combined with a fade or tapered sides for a sleek finish. The quiff looks sophisticated and is particularly suitable for men who want to look stylish without compromising on appearance. This hairstyle goes well with formal wear, but also gives casual outfits a sophisticated twist.

The modern mullet: retro with an edge

The mullet is making a striking comeback in 2025! But unlike in the 1980s, the modern version is tighter and better styled. The sides are often short or even shaved, while the hair at the nape remains longer. The top gets textured or slightly wavy for a casual look. This style combines retro flair with a fresh, contemporary look. The modern mullet is my own favourite and I know from experience that it is easy to maintain.

Styling tips

For the undercut, use a matte clay or

to add texture and control. For the quiff, a volumising powder or mousse combined with a blow dryer works best to create height and lots of volume. The modern mullet benefits from a light styling cream or sea salt spray to accentuate natural movement.

Shaved hairstyles and fades

Shaved hairstyles have become the standard for men who want to look groomed, sleek and modern. The fade, in all its forms, is the basis of many popular men's hairstyles. The beauty of this style? It is adaptable to any face shape, any hair type and virtually any look you want. Whether you go for a subtle taper or a low fade, a well-cut fade makes the man.

Taper fade: subtle difference, big effect

The taper fade is a gradual transition where hair from the temples and neck is gradually shaved shorter. Unlike the skin fade, where the hair is completely shaved away down to the skin, the taper leaves a small amount of length visible. This makes the taper softer and slightly more natural, ideal for men who like a groomed look without too much contrast. The taper fade is versatile and pairs well with all kinds of hairstyles, from short crops to longer textured tops. This subtle style exudes class without being boring.

Styling hair forward: how to do it

One of the styles we see a lot in combination with fades is wearing the hair forward. This look - also known as a fringe or crop - gives a modern, slightly rebellious look. Especially when combined with a taper fade or low fade, this hairstyle comes into its own. The top is left short to medium-length and styled forward, possibly with a slight fringe.
To create this look, start with towel-dried hair. Apply a light paste or styling cream, spread it well and use your fingers to bring the hair towards the forehead. Finish with a light fixing spray for extra hold without stiffness.

Go for this simple look!

  • Step 1: To create this look, start with towel-dried hair.
  • Step 2: Apply a light paste or styling cream, spread well.
  • Step 3: Use your fingers to bring the hair towards the forehead.
  • Step 4: Let your hair air dry or use for a blow dryer. Knead while blow-drying for extra texture.
  • Step 5: Busy day ahead? Finish with a light fixing spray for extra hold without stiffness.

Long hair in men: stylish or bold

Whereas long hair used to be mostly associated with an alternative or casual lifestyle, anno 2025 it is a full-fledged and stylish choice for men of all ages. Men with long hair exude self-confidence, individuality and sometimes even a touch of rebelliousness. Whether you opt for loose locks, a sleek man bun or natural waves, long hair offers endless variations. The important thing is to take good care of it and choose a style that suits your face shape and look. So good styling products are not enough, but also the right hair care that suits longer hair.

The modern surfer look

The surfer look remains one of the most popular long hairstyles for men. This style is all about nonchalance and natural movement - as if you have just come from the beach. The hair falls loosely around the face, often with slight waves or natural curls. This hairstyle requires little styling, but comes out best with some sea salt spray or a light texturising spray. The result is a relaxed, confident look that goes well with a casual lifestyle. This look is ideal for men with medium to thick hair and works particularly well with a light beard or stubble growth for an extra cool effect.

The man bun: practical and stylish

The man bun has been popular for years, and will remain a smart and stylish choice in 2025. It is the solution for those who want to wear their long hair in a neat, uncluttered way, for example at work, while exercising or on formal occasions. You can opt for a high or low bun, depending on your style preference. The man bun looks sleek and organised, but remains playful. Combine it with shaved sides for a more modern silhouette, or keep it classic with long locks all around. Just make sure your hair is healthy and shiny because long hair makes damage and dry ends stand out.

Does long hair suit me?

Long hair looks best on men with an oval, rectangular or diamond-shaped face shape. These shapes can handle extra length well and visually benefit from the flowing lines of a long cut. If you have a rounder face, opt for layers or a side parting to optically create a bit more length. Avoid styles that completely frame the face without structure, as this can make the face appear wider. Remember that with this hairstyle, patience is a virtue, especially with a man bun which requires you to have quite a bit of length.

Care and styling tips

Long hair requires more attention than short hairstyles, but with the right care, it will stay strong and stylish. Always use a mild, moisturising shampoo and combine it with a conditioner to keep your hair supple and tangle-free. A nourishing hair mask once or twice a week can help keep hair resilient, especially when using heat or exposure to sun and wind.
Always brush your hair gently, preferably with a coarse comb or soft brush, and avoid aggressive rubbing with a towel. Want to blow-dry? Then always use a heat protection product. And remember: regularly touching up the ends will keep your cut healthy and cared for.

Long hairstyles for men require little styling. Use a sea salt spray or texturising spray to add some extra waves. Does the hair fall very flat? Then have layers cut or take some weight out of the hair or use a volumising powder at the roots. For a man bun, a wax stick can help to keep the sides extra tight to the back.

Grey hair & men's hairstyles for 60+

Going grey has long since ceased to be a sign of decline, rather a style statement! Men aged 60 and above are increasingly showing off their natural hair colour with pride. With the right hairstyle and care, grey hair can actually look powerful, stylish and modern. Whether you have a lot of volume or thinner hair, a well-chosen hairstyle balances your face and makes you look groomed and confident.

Silver is stylish

Grey hair has a unique texture and look. It reflects light differently and therefore can quickly look dull if not cut or cared for properly. Opt for a hairstyle that offers structure, such as a short side part, a cropped hairstyle with some texture or a classic taper. These styles give the face definition and create a fresh, open look.
For men with somewhat fuller hair, longer, layered hairstyles are also a nice option - if kept well-maintained. A slight wave or blow gives the hair more dynamism, while a neatly shaved side part keeps things sleek. Do you wear glasses? Then consider how the hairstyle falls around the temples; this can do a lot for your expression.

Besides the right cut, colour is also important. Everyone gets their unique shade of grey, silvery and sometimes even white. Hair often has a different texture to pigmented hair: it tends to be stiffer, drier and more prone to yellowing. Therefore, it is important to choose products specifically tailored to greying hair. A silver shampoo is a must-have to maintain the cool, silvery shade and combat yellow glow. Are you going for a dark grey shade or anthracite? Then a colour mask or colour mousse will do the trick. These products work like a toner, but without much hassle with hydrogen peroxide and tubes.

In addition, use a nourishing conditioner or leave-in treatment to keep hair supple. For styling, light creams or pommades with shine are ideal, especially for shorter hairstyles. Do you have thinning hair? Then choose thickening hair care and styling to reduce hair loss and give existing hair more body.

Perm curls for men

More and more men are choosing to change their look with curls - and it doesn't always have to be natural. In 2025, the perm will make its comeback, especially among men who love a distinct style with lots of volume. But what exactly does such a treatment entail, and are permanent curls for men something for you?

What is a perm?

A perm is a chemical treatment that permanently changes the structure of your hair. Your hair is transformed into curls or waves that last for a long time - usually between three and six months, depending on your hair type and care. For men, a perm is often applied to the top part of the hair, while the sides remain short or shaved. This creates a modern silhouette with curls taking centre stage. Think loose, resilient curls with an airy texture. The treatment itself takes an average of one and a half to two hours, and we always recommend doing it at a professional hairdresser's.

Is a perm for me?

A perm suits men looking for a striking and creative change to their look. It is popular among young men, lovers of streetwear, and fans of K-pop or retro hair aesthetics. If you have straight hair and long for more volume, movement or a more playful look, a perm may be just what you are looking for. But beware: it is not for everyone. A perm requires maintenance and the right products. If you prefer a hairstyle that requires little care, a perm may not be the best choice. Caution is also needed with thin, coloured or bleached and damaged hair. Have your hairdresser assess your hair quality beforehand. After this chemical treatment, it is necessary to care for your hair with the right products against dry or porous hair, as a perm needs more hydration.

A tip from my own experience: choose or ask for large rollers, provided your hair has the right length for this. The larger the perm rollers used, the looser the curl. For playfulness with a modern mullet, you want to avoid (too) tight poodle curls. In addition, tight curls with styling products like a gel can also give a noodle soup effect. Furthermore, a loose curl or coarse blow is much better to blend into the shorter sometimes even shaved sides.

Styling tips for perm curls

A perm will only look good if you take good care of your hair. Always use a moisturising shampoo and a nourishing conditioner specially designed for curly or damaged hair. Avoid products with sulphates or alcohol, as these can further dry out the hair. Below we put down some tips to get the most out of your permanent curls, including my own tips and tricks:

Tips for men's perm

  • For styling, a leave-in conditioner, curl cream or serum is ideal: it keeps curls supple, prevents frizz and defines the shape.
  • Always apply styling products to towel-dried hair and gently knead in with your fingers. Read all about scrunching and finger coiling your hair here.
  • Want extra hold? Then use a light mousse or gel, but avoid hard gels with high hold. This way, you will always keep movement in your curls. There are more than enough gels for curly hair in our range.
  • After applying styling products, let your hair air dry, which is the very best. For curly boys & girls, it is okay to go out with wet hair - at least in my opinion (season permitting).
  • Still want to dry curly hair with a hair dryer? Then use a diffuser on low temperature.
  • Do not brush out your hair dry! That makes curls frizzy and undefined. If necessary, use a coarse comb and only on wet hair.
  • Keep the sides and contours neatly touched up. That way the uncurled hair will blend nicely into your perm on top.

What are the hairstyle trends for men in 2025?

The men's hairstyle of 2025 is all about contrast, character and ease. Whereas men's hairstyles used to be mostly classic and sleek, we now see a clear shift towards more playful and bold styles. Trends like the taper fade, the modern mullet and the blockhead haircut show that men are increasingly daring to experiment. At the same time, timeless hairstyles like the buzz cut and the short crop remain popular for their simplicity and clean look. Whatever your style - groomed, cool or outspoken - there will be a men's haircut to match in 2025.

Taper fade with texture on top

The taper fade remains popular, but in 2025 it's all about a natural-looking, slightly messy top. Think airy volume, matte styling and a casual look.

Long on top, sleek at the sides

Men's hairstyles with sides shaved up above long are still trending. It gives a playful contrast and a good balance between a groomed look, cool character and freedom in styling.

Fringe crop: hair forward

The hair forward look is ideal for men with thick or wavy hair. This style is easy to maintain and suits a sporty and casual look.

Modern mullet and blockhead revival

For the slightly bolder look: the blockhead and modern mullet is making a comeback! Inspired by the 80s and 90s and often combined with a fade or undercut. Bold, but totally trending!

Long hair with natural waves

Long hair in men continues to gain ground. Especially when combined with groomed layers and light (natural) curls, this is a stylish choice for men with more length.

Perm for curly men

A notable trend is the return of perms for men. Especially with a younger target group, we see this more and more often. You spend a little longer at the hairdresser's than you are used to, but it has many advantages. A perm gives volume and curl, without daily styling.

Silver fox: grey and proud

Grey hair is no longer hidden away, but accentuated. With the right cut, often short or classic, this look exudes maturity and self-confidence. With the right care or colouring, such as a silver shampoo or toning, you will get beautiful and groomed grey hair.

Your perfect hairstyle starts with the right choice

Whether you go for the clean lines of a taper fade, the laid-back nonchalance of a surfer look or the striking style of a modern mullet - there will be a haircut for every man in 2025 that perfectly suits his personality and face shape. As you have already seen in the banner: whether you have a round face like Leonardo DiCaprio or a heart-shaped face like Nick Jonas, the right look makes all the difference.
