5 tips for repairing dehydrated skin
Dehydrated skin, we all know it. But how does it happen and what can you do about it? In this blog I will give you some tips to recognise, prevent and take care of dehydrated skin.
What is dehydrated skin?
Dehydrated skin is a skin condition. This condition can occur in dry, oily, normal and combination skin. In most cases, it mainly occurs in dry skin. But what is dehydrated skin? The skin suffers from a moisture deficiency, which means the moisture level is out of balance. This can be due to the sun, air conditioning, temperature changes or using the wrong products. But how can you recognise dehydrated skin? Dehydrated skin can be recognised by a number of signs. The skin generally feels tight, has flakes, fine lines and looks dull.
How can you restore dehydrated skin?
Tip 1: Drink plenty of water.
Drinking enough water daily keeps your skin hydrated. Don't think that your dehydrated skin has suddenly recovered after a few glasses of water, because of course it can't. Drinking 2 litres of water in a day will keep your moisture levels up and waste products removed.
Tip 2: Use moisturising products.
Using the right products is very important. Consider products that contain hyaluronic acid to give the skin a hydration boost. Unfortunately, in general, wrong and aggressive products are often used, affecting the skin as well as losing moisture. Besides daily care, such as your cleanser, day and night cream, also use a lovely mask or serum.
At Salontotal, we have a wide range of facial care products and so too for dehydrated skin. We list some of them for you:
Tip 3: Protect skin from the sun.
UV rays are one of the culprits that dry out the skin. Of course, it is already very important in summer to protect the skin from the sun to prevent sunburn. When the skin is burnt, a lot of moisture is lost. Your skin is therefore really lacking moisture. Therefore, apply a generous layer of sunscreen every 2 hours. It is also important to use an aftersun after sun exposure. These products give the skin the care it needs, such as repairing, cooling, softening and moisturising.
Tip 4: Don't shower for too long.
Water dries out the skin and hot water even more so. Therefore, do not shower for too long and certainly not too hot. After showering, use a lovely body lotion or cream that can condition the skin.
Tip 5: Ensure good humidity.
Poor humidity causes moisture to evaporate from the skin. As a result, you quickly suffer from dehydrated skin. So it is very important that the rooms in your home or at work have a good percentage of humidity. This is between 40% and 60%.
Bring the moisture level of your skin up to standard and enjoy a well-cared-for skin!
